For the Personal Touch
Nestled in the hills west of Pretoria, this centre, under the guidance and patronage of Ann van Dyk, has been breeding endangered species, particularly Cheetah, since 1971. After their initial success, they branched out to include other species under threat, such as the African Wild Dog, Brown Hyaena, Suni Antelope, Caracal, Riverine Rabbit and vultures. Guided tours around the centre are offered daily, and very informative as well as affording the opportunity of an up-close look at these seldom seen animals. The ambassador cheetahs at the Centre are exercised three times a week as part of an enrichment programme. This entails the cheetahs chasing a high speed lure and visitors are able to witness the cheetah moving at speed. This activity offers some excellent photographic opportunities. Visits to this centre can be combined with other venues, particularly Pretoria and possibly the Elephant Sanctuary or the Hartebeespoort Cableway. At the Sancturary you are able to walk with the elephants, touch them and learn about them at the same time. Please remember - my speciality is customised tours. I will quote on a customised tour or amend itineraries to suit you.
